Modeling how to write is an important step to teaching writing. Model at least once a week from August until November when you and your students have the most energy. Show your students step-by-step how to write well-developed essays or answers in state tests. You do it! The Students do it!

Use fun topics at the beginning. Some fun topics include:
If you could be an animal,
a musical instrument,
a car,
a piece of furniture,
a number
or a punctuation mark,
what would you be?

When your students understand how to write using easy topics, they can then go on to tackle tougher subjects. Good luck and have fun!
